How your child's information is used
Notice for parents and guardians, version 2026-11-02b (2 November 2026)
Read this before you agree to your child joining classes on The Skill Site. Nothing about your child is kept until you agree.
Who is responsible
The organisation that invited you runs your child's classes and decides how your child's information is used. It teaches them using The Skill Site, a learning service run by RunCode Inc, which holds your child's information for the organisation and uses it only to provide the classes.
To ask about your child's information, contact the organisation that invited you, using the contact in its invitation.
What is kept about your child
- their first name, as you give it
- the recordings they make and hand in
- their answers to assignments and quizzes
- their grades, and their teachers' comments and recorded replies
- their attendance at classes
- their progress through their classes
- any certificate the organisation gives them
Nothing else: no date of birth, photo, address, phone number or email address of their own. Your child does not have a sign-in of their own; they use The Skill Site through your account, on your device.
Why
To teach your child in the organisation's classes, and for nothing else.
What is never done
Your child is never shown advertising. Nothing tracks or analyses how they use the site, and nothing records how they behave on a page, such as leaving a test or pasting. AI features are off for children. Your child can read their class's board but cannot comment on it.
Lessons may show videos and activities from YouTube, Vimeo, PhET, GeoGebra or Desmos inside the page. Those services provide them under their own terms; videos are shown without YouTube's tracking cookies. Nothing else about your child is sent to other systems: course packages in a lesson know your child only as "Learner", and your child's name and results are never sent to systems an organisation connects to The Skill Site.
Who sees it
Your child's teachers at the organisation, and you. If the organisation gives your child a certificate, its page shows your child's first name and the organisation to anyone who has its link; you decide who to give the link to.
Where it is kept
On Amazon Web Services servers in the United States. Code your child runs in a lesson is run on servers in Finland.
How long it is kept
For as long as your consent stands. When your child's classes end, their record stays with the organisation as part of its class history until you withdraw your consent or the organisation stops using The Skill Site. Withdrawing your consent from an organisation ends its use of your child's information, and your child leaves its classes. Your child's information is erased once no organisation holds your consent. A record that you gave your consent and withdrew it is kept, without your child's name, to show that consent was asked for.
Your rights
You have the right:
- to see your child's information: choose your child on your family page and open their classes
- to have it corrected: change your child's name on your family page, or ask the organisation
- to withdraw your consent at any time, on your family page
- to have your child's information erased, which withdrawing your last consent does
- to complain: first to the organisation, and then, if it is not put right, to the data protection authority where you live
What agreeing means
By agreeing you confirm that you are the child's parent or lawful guardian and that you are 18 or over, and you consent to the organisation using your child's information as this notice describes. The version you agree to is recorded with your consent.
