For apprenticeship providers
Deliver digital apprenticeships with the evidence built in
The Skill Site runs your apprentices' cohorts, grades their code against your tests, and works out off-the-job hours from your registers. Each employer gets a report on each apprentice: what they can code, the tests it passed, their attendance and their hours.

Off-the-job hours from your registers
- Give each batch its weekly timetable. Every session marked in the register is worth its length, and a learner present or late is credited it, or the minutes you enter if they left early.
- Set planned hours for the batch, or for one apprentice, and see each one's hours against their plan.
- Fill in a register by hand, or from a Zoom or Teams participant report: learners are matched by email, and partial attendance is credited in minutes.
- Print any session's register, and export attendance and hours as CSV.
Evidence an employer can read
Employers pay for apprentices who can do the job. Show them, apprentice by apprentice.
Per-learner reports
A report for each apprentice, ready to print or save as PDF for their employer: quiz results with the coding tests passed, attendance, hours, and assignments with their grades. It names the learner without their username or email, under your logo.
Certificates that can be checked
Issue a certificate of completion from the report. The learner is emailed a link, and anyone can confirm it on a public verification page.
The code behind every grade
Each graded answer keeps the code handed in, the tests it passed and a replay of how it was written, for a reviewer who wants to see the work.
Exports for your other systems
Batch progress, quiz results, assignment grades with grader and feedback, and attendance, as CSV for your e-portfolio and ILR work.
Teaching and assessment for digital standards
- Lessons with video, reading, runnable code, Python notebooks and full coding labs. See notebooks and labs.
- Coding questions graded against your own tests in 12 languages, from practice to timed exams. See coding assessment.
- Assignments with file hand-ins, written feedback, and work returned for another try with a reason.
- Reminders to apprentices a day before work is due, and an email when it is graded.
- AI hints with a safeguarding route to your lead, never in exams. See AI hints.
Questions and answers
How are off-the-job hours worked out?
From the batch's timetable and its register. A learner marked present or late is credited the session's length, or the minutes staff enter for them, against their planned hours. Each mark keeps the length its session had when it was marked, so a later timetable change never alters past hours.
Does The Skill Site replace our e-portfolio?
No. Keep OneFile, Aptem, Bud or whichever system holds your evidence and reviews. The Skill Site runs the teaching and the coding assessment, and exports grades, hours and attendance as CSV for it. We do not yet write those systems’ own import formats.
Can apprentices aged 16 and 17 use it?
Yes. Your organisation adds them, so you are responsible for any notice their age needs. AI hints are allowed from 16 if you turn them on, and concerns go to your safeguarding lead.
Where is learners’ data held?
In Amazon Web Services’ N. Virginia region in the United States, and learners’ code runs on servers in Finland. Our published data processing agreement includes the ICO’s international data transfer agreement.
Can several centres or teams use one account?
Yes. Staff and batches are unlimited, each batch has its own instructor and timetable, and instructors see only the batches they teach.
How is it priced for an apprenticeship provider?
By active learners a month, in bands, with staff free. After your first month, a month with 10 or fewer active learners costs $49, so the gap between intakes does not cost a full band.
