When CodeGrade is the better choice
- Your classes have 50 or fewer students each and its free plan covers what you need.
- You want rubrics beside the autograding, which its free plan includes.
- Your exams must be locked to a room or a session.
- Your course is built around GitHub or unit-test frameworks.
When The Skill Site is the better choice
- You start new intakes through the year and do not want to pay per course each time.
- You want timetables, attendance, hours and assignments beside the grading, not in a second system.
- You report to employers on each learner, with certificates they can check.
- You want LMS integration, notebooks, labs and AI hints without moving up a plan.
Questions and answers
Which is cheaper for a training provider?
It depends on how often you start a course. A provider running 4 twelve-week intakes of 100 learners a year buys 400 course places on CodeGrade: $9,600 a year on Starter or $15,600 on Advanced. The Skill Site’s band for 100 active learners is $2,988 a year at list price.
When is CodeGrade the better choice?
For courses of 50 or fewer students that fit its free plan, when you need exams locked by IP address and session, or when your course is built around GitHub.
Does CodeGrade run cohorts?
CodeGrade grades code. Its pages describe no timetables, attendance registers or reports for employers, so a training provider runs those in another system. The Skill Site does both.
Can we keep our CodeGrade tests?
There is no importer, so tests are entered again in the question editor. Input and output tests keep their content as they are; tests written for a unit-test framework such as pytest or JUnit need rewriting as input and output, or as short test code, since The Skill Site does not run those frameworks.
